Mini Summit

June 14-15, 2010
Okanagan College, 1000 KLO Road, Kelowna

Okanagan College, on behalf of Environment Canada and the Resource Positive Envelope Design project, hosted a Mini Summit on Monday, June 14 and Tuesday, June 15, 2010 in Kelowna, British Columbia.

The Resource Positive Architecture project is part of Canada's contribution to the Asia Pacific Partnership (APP) on Clean Development and Climate.

The project is a partnership between Okanagan College and the Okanagan Science and Technology Council with funding from Environment Canada.

It includes architects, engineers, researchers and educators from companies, colleges and universities from around the world.

The purpose of the Mini Summit was to bring together interested parties who have a focus and passion for developing the next generation of green buildings. The Mini Summit provided a venue to explore opportunities around the RPED which was funded as part of Canada's participation in the Asia Pacific Partnership (APP) on Climate Change.

The Mini Summit included open discussions on the possibilities of shared research and curriculum development; the dissemination of the project results and findings using both traditional and digital means; and the potential for future funding.

Topics included metering and monitoring; wireless sensors; advanced materials and assemblies; simulation software; and mechatronics and responsive envelopes.

Green buildings are the best means of reducing global warming and collaborative research is the best means of making buildings green.
